Nigeria - Abeokuta
Abeokuta ´under the rock´ is famous for historical ´Olumo Rock´, a fortress of the Egbas during the Yoruba civil wars of the early 1800s. It is the landmark from which the city derived its name. A live shrine and dwelling caves are preserved and a climb or elevator ride to the peak is rewarded with a panoramic view of the city. Lunch is at a city restaurant.
Visit Itoku market home of Adire tie- dye fabrics for which the city is known, Ake palace, home of the traditional Oba (King) the Alake of Egba land, Ijaye Pottery market offering variety of pots and souvenirs.
